Safari game drive on the savannah in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
Uganda wildlife safari

One country. Every great safari story.

Lions asleep in fig trees, a river that thunders through solid rock, empty plains in the far northeast and wild chimpanzees overhead. Which story will be yours?

A day on safari

Picture this. It is 5:45 in the morning.

Safari is not a schedule, it is a feeling that builds from the first coffee to the last sundowner. Here is how a typical Uganda safari day unfolds, and why people stop checking their phones.

A sample day for illustration. Every itinerary is different.

  1. Coffee in the dark

A quiet knock, hot coffee on the veranda and a savannah that is still grey and silent.

  2. First light on the plains

Your driver guide reads fresh tracks. Dawn is when big cats are often on the move, and you are already there.

  3. Out on the water

A slow boat drifts past hippos and elephants coming down to drink, with birds in every tree.

  4. Into the forest, or on foot

Follow wild chimpanzees overhead, or walk beside zebras at Lake Mburo. The pace is yours.

  5. Sundowners and stories

A drink in hand, the sky turning gold, and the whole day replaying while you plan tomorrow.

Uganda is the safari that surprises you

Most safari countries make you choose a landscape. Uganda lets you stack them: dawn game drives, boat cruises beside hippos, forest walks in search of chimpanzees, and quiet evenings on a lodge veranda in between. Savannah, rainforest, the Nile and the Rwenzori mountains all sit within a few days of each other.

We are a small team based in Uganda, and we plan every journey the way we would plan our own: which tracks the lions favour, which verandas have the best view, how much driving is too much. You bring the curiosity.

Before you choose

Which park is best for a first safari?

Queen Elizabeth is the classic first stop, with game drives, a boat cruise and a chance of tree climbing lions. Murchison Falls adds the Nile and a dramatic waterfall, and the two combine well.

How many days do I need?

Three to four days suits a single park. Seven days lets you link Murchison Falls, Kibale and Queen Elizabeth comfortably. Kidepo is best with at least five days.

When is the best time for wildlife?

The drier months, June to September and December to February, make animals easier to find. The green season is quieter and lovely for birds and landscapes.

Do I need to be fit for a safari?

Not for most savannah safaris, which are done from a vehicle and a boat. Chimpanzee tracking involves forest walking at a gentle pace. Tell us about any mobility needs and we will plan around them.

Can I add gorilla trekking?

Yes. Many guests finish a savannah safari with gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Tell us your dates and we will link the two smoothly.

Can you tailor a safari for my budget or occasion?

Of course. Every journey can be adjusted, from lodge level and length to honeymoon touches. Budget safaris are available on request.
