A mountain gorilla in the misty forest of Uganda

Somewhere in 2027, a group of strangers will fall silent together.

You arrive as eight separate travellers. You leave as people who shared the same wet, green hush while a mountain gorilla looked back at you. These are our 2027 scheduled departures: fixed dates, a group to join, and one clear price. Pick your door in, Entebbe or Kigali.

Two doors into the same forest

Every route ends in Bwindi’s misty hills, where the gorillas live. What changes is how you get there, and what you see on the way. Choose the story you want the first two days to tell.

Through Entebbe

The slow unfolding. You cross the Equator, watch the land turn from lake shore to savannah to terraced hills, and arrive with Uganda already under your skin.

  • About 500 km to Bwindi, roughly 9 to 10 hours on the road
  • Room for Lake Mburo’s zebras and impala on the way
  • Best if you want more of Uganda in one trip
  • Uganda entry only, one visa

Through Kigali

The short road. Rwanda’s smooth highways carry you to the Katuna border and into Bwindi before the first afternoon is out, leaving more hours for gorillas and lake views.

  • About 200 km to Bwindi, roughly 5 to 6 hours including the border
  • Fewer hours in the vehicle, more time on the lake and trail
  • Best if you are short on days or travel with older guests
  • An East Africa Tourist Visa can cover Rwanda and Uganda

Low season or high season? Low season (April, May and November) means a lower permit, quieter trails and a greener forest, with more rain. High season (June to September) brings the driest paths and the busiest forest, and the highest permit price. Either way, the gorillas are the same.

What your gorilla morning feels like

Before you choose a date, here is the part you are really travelling for.

  1. Before the forest wakes

You meet your ranger guide at the park headquarters for a short briefing and are matched with a gorilla family.

  2. The walk in

Trackers have already found the family. You follow on foot through steep, green forest, at a pace the group can share.

  3. The hour

With the family found, you spend one quiet hour watching them, in a group of no more than eight guests.

  4. The ride home, quieter

Back at the lodge the stories start, and so does the argument about which moment was the best.

Before you choose

What does joining a group mean?

You travel on a fixed 2027 date alongside other guests, in a shared vehicle with a professional driver guide. It is a friendly way to trek at a shared price.

What is included in the price?

Your gorilla permit, accommodation, meals, ground transport with a driver guide and park fees. International flights, visas, insurance and tips are extra.

How do I pick between Entebbe and Kigali?

Match the start to your flights. Kigali gives the shortest road to the gorillas, and Entebbe gives a longer, more scenic journey through more of Uganda.

Low season or high season: what is the difference?

Low season (April, May and November) means a lower permit, quieter trails and a greener forest, with more rain. High season (June to September) brings the driest paths, the busiest forest and the highest permit price. The gorillas are the same.

How do I reserve a place?

Choose a date and send us the short enquiry form. We check permit availability first, confirm your seat by email and guide you through the next steps.

Can I travel privately instead of joining a group?

Yes. Private and customised safaris are available on request. Tell us your dates and we’ll quote it.

What is the minimum age to trek gorillas?

Fifteen years, set by the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
